PNG Corrections Service Resumes Recruitment with Independent Review

The Papua New Guinea Corrections Service (PNGCS) announced the reopening of its recruitment process for correctional officers. Applications shortlisted in 2023 will be reviewed by an independent recruitment firm before moving forward in May 2024.

This independent assessment aims to ensure all candidates meet the PNGCS's strict entry requirements and are suitable for the challenging yet rewarding role of a correctional officer. The final number of recruits will depend on available funding, with the PNGCS targeting between 120 and 160 new positions.

“We are committed to recruiting qualified individuals who will uphold the PNGCS's values and contribute positively to our correctional facilities,” stated Commissioner Stephen Pokanis.

This news comes as a welcome development for those who applied in 2023. It's important to note that shortlisted candidates from last year will undergo the independent review process before progressing.

Those interested in a future career with the PNGCS and who haven't already applied should stay tuned for further announcements regarding the application process for potential future recruitment rounds.
