PNG Teachers Pay Increase 2023: What You Need to Know

On March 17th, 2023, the Papua New Guinea (PNG) Parliament approved a three per cent pay increase for all public servants, including the country's 65,000 teachers. This decision has been long-awaited by teachers who have not received a pay rise since 2019. 

The PNG Teachers' Association (PNGTA) has submitted a request for a 12 per cent increase based on the consumer price index.

The PNGTA had previously submitted a request for a 12 per cent increase based on the consumer price index. 

However, the delay in the submission was due to in-house matters, which have been resolved according to the PNGTA president, Aita Sanagkepe. That means that the teachers should see an increment in their pay.

PNG Teachers Pay Increase 2023

The 2023 pay increase is significant for PNG teachers who have not received a pay rise since 2019.

Once you have your candidate PIN, you can log in to the IB's candidate results website approximately one day after the results are issued. This means that most students can expect to access their scores on July 6, 2025. 

It's worth mentioning that the IB uses a session-specific login system, so you will receive new login details for each session.

Grading Scale for IB Tests

IB tests are scored on a scale of 1 to 7, with 7 being the highest score achievable. The grading system uses "grade descriptors" to define each level across six categories. These descriptors provide detailed information about the skills and knowledge demonstrated by students at each score level.

Acceptance of IB Scores for College Credit

The acceptability of IB scores for college credit varies among institutions. While specific requirements may differ, most colleges generally grant credit for IB Higher Level (HL) classes with a score of 5 or higher on the corresponding exams. 

In some cases, colleges may even waive certain General Education requirements for students who hold an IB Diploma.

November IB Exam Dates and Results

For students who took the IB exams in November 2025, the release of scores follows a different timeline. The results are typically sent to schools on January 2 of the following year. 

Students will then have access to their scores either on that day or shortly thereafter, depending on their school's process. 

As with the May session, it's recommended to check with your IB coordinator for precise details regarding the availability of your November exam results.

Typically, results are released on July 6 at 12 PM GMT for candidates, with schools receiving them a day earlier on July 5 at 12 PM GMT.
