Advanced Placement (AP) Program Overview

Students are generally not allowed to take more than three AP classes in a single school year. To register for an AP course, students must have a B+ average in the prerequisite course and/or the permission of the Department Head.

Taking AP Exams in 2024

AP coordinators are responsible for informing students about the exam schedule and locations. Early exams or exams at times other than those published by the College Board are not permitted under any circumstances.

Late exam dates are available for students who cannot take the exams during the first two weeks of May. See the late exam schedule for more information.

The 2024 AP Exams will be administered in schools over two weeks in May:

Late AP Exam Dates

Sometimes, students need to take exams late due to unforeseen circumstances. To maintain the security of AP Exams, alternate forms are used for late exams. All students taking late exams at a given school must take these alternate exams on the scheduled late exam dates at the scheduled times.

Important Notes about AP Exam Dates 2024

The College Board has released important points about the 2024 exam dates and schedules that coordinators and students should note:

• AP coordinators should order alternate (late-testing) exams for students who have scheduling conflicts.
• Schools must begin the morning exam administration between 8 and 9 a.m. local time and the afternoon exam administration between 12 and 1 p.m. local time. The AP Physics C: Electricity and Magnetism Exam must begin between 2 and 3 p.m. local time.
• Schools in Alaska must begin the morning exam administration between 7 and 8 a.m. local time, and the afternoon exam administration between 11 a.m. and 12 p.m. local time. The AP Physics C: Electricity and Magnetism Exam in Alaska must begin between 1 and 2 p.m. local time.
• AP Seminar end-of-course exams are only available to students taking AP Seminar at a school participating in the AP Capstone Diploma Program.
• April 30, 2024 (11:59 p.m. ET) is the deadline for:
  • AP Seminar and AP Research students to submit performance tasks as final and have their presentations scored by their AP Seminar or AP Research teachers.
  • AP Computer Science Principles students to submit their Create performance task as final.
