Jamb Results 2024 Release Date News Update Nigeria

The last 3 years have been challenging for many countries to run examinations. Nigeria has done well. The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) examination has successfully completed registration and examination for its students. The next step is to release the 2024 JAMB Results. 

Over 1.2 million students (based on UTME/DE registration data) are anticipating their results and are asking when is JAMB result 2024 will come out? This article sheds some light on this question.

How Long Does It Take For Jamb Results To Come Out?

The JAMB exams take over 3 weeks. The exams were done in batches. Based on past experience, the JAMB results *are likely* to be released in batches, too. 

The exam results for the first 10 days will come out, individually to students, prior to the other results.

That means that students may get their results within 48 hours (2 days) after the exams, but the overall results may not be available on the JAMB result portal until the last exams are completed.

You can also check the JAMB website as we believe this is the PRIMARY source of info.

When will Jamb Results come out? 

The student's results will be available on the JAMB results portal after all the examination results and exam-related data have been updated. 

That means that the exams should be finalised at the same time, and made available to students at JAMB students portal. See below how to access the 2024 results.

Data cleansing, updates and announcements relating to results are the work of JAMB. Therefore, the students, news outlets and stakeholders will have to get the *final* (confirmed) dates from JAMB. 

In fact, the board is the only body to inform all stakeholders about the result dates; and when exactly the results will be available on the result portal.

Based on the 48-hour release time, we infer that the following are likely times for the individual students to get their results.

There is a preconceived idea that there are cannibals in the jungles of PNG. The naivety around the idea stems from the fact that there is a lack of understanding of the country, its geopolitical setting and its people. Here is what the real story is.

The answer there is no such thing as cannibals or the practice of cannibalism in Papua New Guinea. Trust me, no human is ever seen eaten alive when they venture on Papua New Guinea trips.

In fact, many of the articles are fake news. The articles about cannibals in PNG proliferated by major online websites do not have the right facts and are completely misleading.

The news about cannibalism in PNG has caught the attention of many naïve readers. The online stories had been sensationalised to attract readers. But, these stories had painted a wrong picture of the country.

Expect the Unexpected Papua New Guinea Trips

Living and working or visiting PNG can be a challenge. But with those challenges come great rewards. 

When you live or visit PNG, it is like travelling to a land of diverse cultures and people.

The common saying here is ‘EXPECT THE UNEXPECTED’. PNG is the land of surprises.

Perhaps it is important to know that Papua New Guinea is a changing country. It has a thriving city with entertainment, hotels, parks, resorts and restaurants and games venues.

Online news about PNG cannibals in the jungle

Many international visitors to PNG can attest to the fact that the articles on cannibals in PNG do not present the correct information.

Often, the stories were retold based on social media posts or by writers who lack an understanding of Papua New Guinea. In fact, many of these stories are not only fake news but also complemented by outdated images.

Therefore, any online news outlet that runs stories on cannibals in PNG in the 21st century must not, just, base their stories on social media posts or fake stories.

Fake Stories on Cannibalism in PNG

It is important that the online media, both international and local media, must establish their facts and sources of stories properly before publishing.

The article titled Korowai People of Papua New Guinea (2017,2009) is a clear example of misinformation. The article said less about the indigenous skill and ability of the people to build houses on stilts and more about cannibalism. In fact, the articles showed recent photo evidence of stilt house and none of the Korowai eating human flesh!

Furthermore, the people of Korowai are not Papua New Guineans. They are from the West Papua in Indonesia. And, they are not cannibals either.

Another fake article was titled the Cannibals on Kokoda (2016). It receives wide online coverage because the couple in the news nearly died whilst walking Kokoda unprepared, and blamed it on the locals. This was a trip that could have ended up in disaster because the couple was stupid.

Kokoda incident - desperate couples

The Papua New Guineans, Australians and other international trackers who walked Kokoda Trail know that the walks are undertaken in organized trips. That means that you must

• have a local contact
• train and prepare for the arduous walk,
• have money, permit, guides and rations,
• walk during the dry season and
• respect the local people.

Kokoda Track is not for the faint-hearted. No one walks Kokoda Track unprepared and without guides. The couple who attempted the Kokoda Track in 2016 underestimated the walk.

In addition, the couple disobeyed the advice of the local authorities on arrival. They had no money and walked the track with a bare minimum of tracking essentials.

The couple could have died along the way when they attempted the trip on their own. They were lucky they survived and should have been thankful for the Kokoda team who helped them.

PNG Higher Education Institutions Resume Classes and Complete 2020 Academic Year - DHERST

DHERST DISPEL FALSE INFORMATION ON SOCIAL MEDIA REGARDING HIGHER EDUCATION INSTITUTIONS

The Department of Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology (DHERST) says its position is to resume the 2020 academic year for all higher education institutions. 

Secretary Professor Fr Jan Czuba came out today to dispel false information being spread on social media Facebook about the closure of the academic year. 

"We currently have a situation where someone irresponsible is circulating false information that the Department is recommending closure of the academic year," Czuba said.

“This information is ethically and legally wrong and we regret that some people are trying to destabilize the peace and harmony during this state of emergency.”

Czuba says he has written letters to Prime Minister James Marape and Emergency Controller David Manning and he’s met with both and made the department’s position clear for all higher education institutions to resume classes and complete the academic year.

He says they are expecting a favourable decision from the Emergency Controller.

He says DHERST communicates to all higher education institutions regularly on any decisions via e-letters and it does not use social media during the state of emergency to communicate with the institutions.

He says any official statement will be announced by himself as per orders received from the Emergency Controller and the National Executive Council.

Czuba says DHERST is maintaining a reputable partnership with all higher education institutions to ensure that students, academic and non-academic staffs are safe and can work in a stable environment to achieve their highest potential by completing their studies.

JAMB Portal Login 2024: How to Login and Check Results

The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) result checker will be live and online when all the exams are complete. Students who have sat for the examination can log in to the JAMB result portal and check their results. But, individual students can check their results after 48 hours like in the past year.

C19 Vs Education: Children Learning is Important too

As important as it is to stop the C19 pandemic from spreading in PNG, it is also important to educate our children at this trying time. This is the message on a thread in PNG Insight. I've fixed the messages and re-posted them here. 

The message is clear. The govt must also give equal and undivided attention to the education of our children at this time.

DHERST and the Education Department cannot be complacent. They have to be proactive. 

The schools have closed early. We know the 27th of April on only a tentative date for school to open. 


There is no need to be scared. However, there is always safety in planning.

PNG PM Statement re. COVID-19: Special Clearence for International Travels and Schools Re-opening

The PM's statement on the 2nd of April was clear - people's movements are restricted to stop any spread of Coronavirus in PNG. International and local travels are restricted until situations have improved in the country.

There are considerations for schools to open on the 27th of April 2020.

Furthermore, the PM hinted to consideration for special clearance for international travels via Brisbane, Cairns and Singapore. Schools, churches and gathering of people in large numbers are limited in order to protect the health and welfare of the general public.

Travel and Education info is sketchy at present

Travel information is expected to be made clear following the PM's statement. This blog expects the Education Minister (the Ministry) and the Education Secretary (the Department) to make formal announcements regarding the re-opening of schools for the commencement of term 2.

• Churches, workplaces and public gathering must now readjust to a minimal number of persons (small groups) with a safe distance of work and socialization.
• For those overseas trying to travel in, we (the govt) will do special uplift from Brisbane. Cairns and Singapore under special clearance from Controller when we establish your medical clearances and you will be isolated here (in PNG) for 14 days.

Today we are living in an environment of insecurities due to coronavirus. The virus is moved when people move from place to place. The world and our next-door neighbours have a greater number of infected persons and our weak health care systems, the government had to take a responsible approach. Within that context, parliament passed an extension to the State of Emergency (SOE) for a further two months. The SOE is not meant to harm us but protect us from the spread of Corona Virus (C19). By the expiry of our earlier SOE induced 14 days shut down, the isolation strategy was to keep C19 from spreading its presence in our country. We are mapping our country on C19, thank God Yahweh so far our country is free of virus. But that does not mean we become complacent. Based on global and regional medical trend and evidence before the Government on the dangers of lack of protective measures, our country stands totally exposed to the devastation C19 can cause to our people and economy. Today’s SOE extension will have operation orders that are less restrictive depending on the situation going into the future. For instance, by next Tuesday ( if we C19 free by Monday ) we will resume all domestics flights, will allow PMVs to operate, markets to operate, work to resume etc. Our 21 provinces will be our coordinating centres and three key coordinating people are the PPC, PA and CEO of PHAs. We will push in April to have C19 centres in Weom, Kiunga, Vanimo, Telefomin and Wewak. We will also work with Bougainville Government for a post in South Bougainville. I ask all citizens that this is trying times, just because there is no infected person presently is no reason for us to be complacent. Your freedom remains but for public safety including yourself, the Controller can make an intervention at individual or group or provincial levels going into the future. Churches and workplaces and public gathering must now readjust to a minimal number of persons (small groups) with a safe distance of work and socialization. We will make further announcements including the safety of our children at schools, considering pieces of evidence, trends and presence of C19 after the 14-day isolation phase expires next Sunday. For those overseas trying to travel in, we will do special uplift from Brisbane and Cairns and Singapore under special clearance from Controller when we establish your medical clearances and you will be isolated here for 14 days.
