2022/2023 DHERST NOAS Online Application Grade 12

DHERST 2022 Online SLF Application for Grade 12 Present Grade 12 students are in a privileged position to make the right choices for their Grade 12 School Leavers.

Firstly, the National Online Application  System (NOAS) gives the students the right choice upfront by highlighting (in red) the 'ineligible' options. There is no room for getting the choices wrong.

Secondly, the students have 5 choices. That means 5 chances of getting into a tertiary institution.

National Online Application  System (NOAS)

In the past, Grade 12 students did not have the chance to change their choices after they filled out the manual School Leaver's Form (SLF). Not do the past students have 5 choices, but they were limited to only 3 choices.

Here is a post about DHERST Selections that provides information for Schools Leavers and Non-School Leavers.

So, here is how you (Grade 12 students) can make full use of the Grade period and maximise your chances of securing a space for 2023.

2022 Grace Period - Why it is important

The Grade period lasts only 5 days. This is the time when you 'adjust' your choices. This is the easy part because DHERST should indicate to you on NOAS whether you are eligible for selection or not depending on your examination marks.

Here is what DHERST say about why the Grade Period is important:

''This [Grade Period] is a crucial period where you will start making your choices based on your final grade 12 results hence make sure to access your account during the mentioned dates. If you see the red highlight indicated in any of your five choices under “My Choices”, this means that your final result has not met the minimum program requirement set by the institution. Therefore, you must change the red highlighted choice to a different program that is available in your program list.'' DHERST

Last year (2021), the Grade 12 students in the country had between Tuesday 14th December and Friday 17th December to adjust their choices to the more suitable ones. DHERST did NOT grant access after the due date for making any further changes.

Launching of DHERST 2023 selection lists for universities and non-universities often come out on Tuesday of the following week. Check this space for any latest on the Grade 12 Grade Period and the launching of 2023 selection lists.

Launching of 2022 selection for the 2023 academic year

The online selection via DHERST's National Online Selections System (NOSS) will kick in and do the magic in 3 days.

Last year (2021), DHERST planned to launch the 2021 selections for the 2022 academic year on Tuesday 21 December 2021. But, there were administrative issues that prompted the Department of Higher Education to republish the selection listing.

If all goes to plan, students are likely to see their selection status by the date announced by DHERST.

How to Check Your 2022 Grade 12 Exam Marks

By now, you should know your Grade 12 exam marks. The marks are accessible through My PNG Exam Results website.

Note that DHERST does not display the Grade 12 students' exam marks.

2023 PNG Exam Results

2023 PNG Universities DHERST Selection List for all universities and other tertiary institutions should be live after DHERST publish the PDF file online.

The 2023 Grade 12 selection list for PNG tertiary institutions will not be available immediately after the release of the Grade 12 Online Results. It will take a few days for DHERST to do the online selections for each tertiary institution in the country.

The final DHERST list will be published online in PDF format. We will let you know when the Tertiary Institutions selection comes out usually 3 - 5 days after the release of the Grade 10 and 12 exam results.

NDOE Results and DHERST Selections

First, the online result will come out, released by the NDOE, through the Measurement Servies Division (MSD).

After that, the Department of Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology (DHESRT) will use the marks to finalise their selections for PNG tertiary institutions; and make the selection listing for 2021 available on their website.

Here is how the online results and selection works

TESAS Awards List - Universities

The Grade 12 selection for tertiary institutions in PNG, usually, comes out during the first week of January of the new year as seen in the last two years.

However, there were administrative problems with the Grade 12 selections in 2020 and 2021. The problems were fixed and the selection lists were updated and released to the public.

Here is what DHERST said about the updated Grade 12 selections listing for tertiary institutions:

The Department of Higher Education Research Science & Technology (DHERST) wishes to advise students and higher education institutions (HEIs) that it has revised the previous TESAS awards for continuing students for 2020 academic year. The award list published on the DHERST website on the 5th of January 2020 is retracted due to some technical problems beyond our control. This has been rectified and scholarships rewarded to all eligible students. (DHERST Press release | 19/01/2020)

When will the 2023 Selection list be published?

Based on last year's experience, we would infer that the selection list would be published late in December 2022 or early January 2023. Perhaps it is important to check the DHERST website during the Christmas and New Year period for DHERST press releases regarding the Grade 12 tertiary institutions selections for 2021.

How to Confirm Grade 12 Students Selection and TESAS Status

The Grade 12 selection is done online and is quick. When the selection lists for all PNG Universities and non-universities are finalised, the DHERST publishes it on their website. Students, parents and stakeholders can download and check the Grade 12 student's status - whether they are selected or not!

Here is how to check the selection status (WITH VIDEO GUIDE). This article shows you how to use the Grade 12 student SLF number and search the downloaded PDF files, with ease :) So, check it out.

TESAS and HELP APPLICATION INFO

FUNDING for next year’s (2021) tertiary education study assistance Scheme (TESAS) and higher education loan programme (HELP) are available now, Fr Jan Czuba says.

The Department of Higher Education, Science, Research and Technology (DHERST) secretary told a press conference recently that the Government had allocated K230 million for Help and K37 million for Tesas.

Here is a post about DHERST Selections that provides information for Schools Leavers and Non-School Leavers.

FIND OUT ABOUT THE HELP LOAN APPLICATION FORM INFO

“We are blessed that we have the Help programme and this is a big help to students that cannot afford to pay,” Fr Jan said.

“We didn’t receive as much as required.

“K68 million was required but we got K37 million.

“Tesas is important because our prime minister wants to encourage students to study hard and academic competition is very important.

“I think we can negotiate some amendments with our Government for Tesas.”

Earlier, Fr Jan said 6,637 students applied for Help this year and K28,109,457 was paid by the Government.

He said it was likely that the number of students that would apply for Help next year would increase because this year would be the first year.

“Students from institutions that are registered with DHERST are eligible to apply for the help programme,” Fr Jan said.

He said students had to demonstrate that they were enrolled in a registered institution in order to apply.

“Help cannot be given to students until such time we have confirmation from the institution that the student has enrolled under the institution,” he said.

The Help initiative aims to enhance and increase quality higher education and ensure continuous access to undergraduate and postgraduate degrees are available to eligible students.

It is not compulsory and students can choose whether or not to apply.
