When is University of Goroka (UoG) 2024 Non-School Leavers Acceptance Lists Coming Out?

There are three weeks before the start of the 2024 academic year for PNG universities and colleges. Most higher education institutions released their new intake and continuing students lists, but the University of Goroka (UoG) has yet to release the Non-School Leavers acceptance list for 2024.

To find out when the NSL Selection list for this year will come out, click here.

When is UoG releasing the 2024 NSL acceptance list?

If you are a non-school leaver, Grade 12 school leavers or pre-service and in-service continuing student, leave a comment about your experience and what you think in the comment section below.

University of Goroka non school leavers acceptance list 2024

UoG 2024 Non-School Leavers Acceptance List

The University of Goroka 2024 Non-School Leavers List has not been released. Many pre-service and in-service NSL applicants are anticipating the list to come out, but you have to be patient.

Other PNG universities and colleges have released their NSL and continuing student lists. Also, last year DHERST released (19/01/2023) the TESAS Award List for all the students on HECAS and AES.

Note that the selection of non-school leavers is the sole responsibility of UoG. The university's selection committee and department heads have a say on NSL selection, not DHERST. When the list does not come out on time, there is something not right with the non-school leavers' selectors.

No one really knows when the UoG non-school leavers selection for 2024 is coming out. But this article give you an idea about when to expect the NSL lists to come out.

It would be better if the university council put out a notice explaining the cause of the delay and clearly stated when the NSL list is coming out! Sadly, it seems too late now that DHERST has released the TESAS Awards List 2024.

UoG 2024 Pre-service and In-service Continuing Students List

The University of Goroka did well in 2021 when they informed the continuing students about their progression status just before they left for the Christmas holiday. This was due to COVID-19 measures, but it worked well because there was less pressure on Students Admin during the 2022 registration week.

It seems that UoG did not do the same this year which is why many continuing students are also waiting for the progression list to come out for 2024.

If you are waiting for the UoG 2024 Continuing Students List to come out, you are better off going to the university and finding out yourself.

If you are unable to travel to UoG, call a friend or UoG on 532 1863 to find out. That way, you'll get some closure as you prepare for the 2024 academic year to start.

New Intake School Leavers - University of Goroka

The list of Grade 12 School leavers 2024 intake was released by DHERST on the last week of December in previous years.

By now, the UoG school leavers should receive their acceptance letters. You should know about the 2024 UoG fees, admission information and when to arrive at the university for registration.

When is UoG 2024 Non-School Leavers Acceptance Lists Coming Out?

Three weeks before the 2024 academic year starts, many are asking the question - is it too late. Sadly, it is late now - the delay can cause a lot of anxiety among NSL applicants and DHERST has released the TESAS Awards List.

More so, what about the self-sponsored students, overseas students, provincial government-sponsored students and new in-service students? It's a shame UoG cannot communicate vital admission information clearly and in a timely manner.

We would like to think that UoG will release the 2024 Non-School Leavers Acceptance list, including the Continuing Students and School Leavers' lists soon.

Hope that UoG updates its website with the latest admission information this week so that students are informed of what is going on.

DHERST released TESAS Awards Lists

DHERST released the TESAS Award lists for new intakes (SL and NSL) and continuing students on the 19th of January last year. For this year, check out the PDF lists on this page to check your names.

Note that the list of names is not arranged by your institution like in the past, but by the names of all the students in the country. It is going to take time to find your name.

Use the PDF search (CTRL+F) and search your SLF number or your full name - this way, you'll find your name quickly.

University of Goroka (UoG) 2024 Selections, Admission and Acceptance Lists Updates

The University of Goroka (UOG) publishes four separate lists to inform students of their admission status for various categories. These are:

  • New Intake Grade 12 School Leavers (SL) Acceptance List: This list names students who have been accepted for undergraduate studies as school leavers directly from Grade 12.
  • Non-School Leavers (NSL) Acceptance List: This list names students who have been accepted for undergraduate studies who are not school leavers (e.g., mature-aged students, transfer students).
  • Continuing Students Progression List: This list confirms the continuation of studies for currently enrolled students who have successfully progressed to the next academic year.
  • Re-enrolled Students Acceptance List: This list names students who have been accepted to re-enrol in their studies after a period of absence.

Please note: The specific dates for the release of these lists will be announced by UOG and the Higher Education Department (DHERST). Get the latest updates on UOG in on PNG Insight here.

NSL, re-admit and continuing students' TESAS status

For non-school leavers, readmitted, and continuing students, it's mandatory to confirm your TESAS status. This means ascertaining whether you're currently receiving either AES or HECAS funding.

Additionally, you should explore how to apply for HELP, the PNG government's student loan scheme. This article provides valuable insights into both TESAS and HELP, which you'll find helpful.

DHERST advises all selected students to obtain their Admission or Acceptance Letter from their chosen university. Most institutions should have already sent out these letters by now, either by email or post.

For School Leaver selections in 2024, DHERST reminds students that post-selection is still ongoing through the National Admission Pool. If you didn't secure a place initially, check your NOAS account regularly for potential offers from other institutions. You can accept or decline these offers directly within your NOAS account.

2024 University of Goroka Application Form

University of Goroka (UoG) Selections Info Update

If you are a non-school leaver who has applied to UoG, the university will inform you directly of your acceptance into their programme. For example, if you submitted the 2023 UoG non-school leaver application for 2024 studies, you will hear directly from UoG, not from DHERST.

The university will directly inform you of your acceptance via the acceptance letter and/or by publishing the acceptance list on their website. Once you receive your acceptance letter, you must accept the Offer Letter and notify the university of your intention to take up the offer immediately.

In 2020, 2021 and 2022, the university proactively informed Continuing Students of their acceptance status before they left for the holidays. This was a commendable practice, as it reduced the stress on UoG Admin during registration early in the following years.

Acceptance lists for 2024

The University of Goroka offers Diploma, Technical, Bachelor, Bachelor (Professional), Bachelor (Honours), Post-Graduate Diploma, and Masters programs.

Here is what UoG says about its programs:

The University of Goroka offers Specialized Degree, and Diploma Programs in the School of Education, School of Humanities, School of Science and Technology, Institute of Technical Vocational Education and Training, Institute of Post Graduate Studies, Institute of Distance and Flexible Learning, and UOG Enga Campus.

UoG selections: Grade 12 students SL vs Non-school Leavers

Please note that UoG collaborates with DHERST in selecting Year 12 students for higher education opportunities. UoG submits its allocated quota to DHERST, which then utilises online school leavers' preferences to select students for the 2024 academic year.

DHERST typically publishes the final selection list. Therefore, if you are a Grade 12 student or classified as a School Leaver, please consult the higher education (DHERST) website for your selection status.

For Non-school Leavers, UoG primarily conducts the selection process. Whether you are applying for a diploma, undergraduate degree, or postgraduate programme, please check the UoG website for your name.

UoG non-school leavers and continuing students, here is an article about the delay in the release of the 2024 lists - read this article.

UoG Non-school Leavers Acceptance List for 2024

Due to limited space and resources, the University of Goroka can only accept a restricted number of new students in its various programmes of study. Consequently, competition is highly intense, and priority is given to those with the highest GPAs.

Those seeking enrolment must fulfil the UoG admission requirements.

Non-School Leavers are selected based on their applications submitted in response to the University's annual advertisement. The University undertakes the selection process and informs successful applicants by publishing the 2024 Non-School Leavers Acceptance List on its website.

School Leavers Acceptance List

As mentioned earlier, the School leavers (Grade 12 Students) are selected based on their options provided through the Department of Higher Education. DHERST does the selection online and informs the students of their AES or TESAS statuses.

The 2024 school leavers' selection list will be published on the DHERST website like it did in the past unless things have changed. However, it seems that the selection will continue as normal this year.

Non-school Leavers Acceptance Letters

The University sends offer/acceptance letters to all candidates selected for various programs in addition to advertising the names of selected candidates for various programs in the prominent newspapers in the Country.

The candidates who accept the offer letters are requested to pay the relevant yearly fee in full and register themselves for the program for which they are accepted usually in February of the year concerned.

The process of admission ends with the registration of the students for the program for which they are accepted.

You can also find out about the other PNG Universities and their 2024 selections on this information page.

UoG New Intake Acceptance Lists 2024 Information

The University of Goroka (UoG) publishes its annual acceptance lists in two instalments each year. In 2021 and 2022, the University announced the continuing students' status before they departed for the Christmas holidays. This practice eased the burden on UoG administration during the busy registration period at the start of the academic year.

2024 UoG Non-school Leavers and School Leavers List

Firstly, non-school leavers apply for a place through the University. Subsequently, the University of Goroka (UoG) makes the selection and publishes it on its website. This is entirely the University's responsibility.

Each faculty within UoG finalises the non-school leavers' selections, which are then submitted to the University Council for approval. Once approved, the list is published as a PDF document on the UoG website.

Secondly, school leavers' applications are processed through the Department of Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology (DHERST). Therefore, DHERST is responsible for generating the listing for all tertiary institutions in Papua New Guinea, including UoG. DHERST will then publish this list.

For UoG's non-school leavers applicants waiting for the NSL acceptance list to come out, here is an article about the delay last year - read about it in this article.
