Alternative Pathways

However, it's important to note that some students may explore alternative options, such as enrolling in programs like the Flexible Open and Distance Education (FODE), or in some cases, returning to their hometowns to pursue other avenues. Each student's unique circumstances and aspirations play a role in determining the path they choose.

Overall, this period is marked by anticipation and optimism as students in Papua New Guinea strive to continue their educational journey and unlock new opportunities for personal and academic growth.

Grade 10 National Exam Results and Selections

The Grade 10 national yearly exam results are usually released just before the Grade 11 Selection Conference in the first week of December.

The 2026 Selection lists for National High and Secondary Schools are likely to be published 2 weeks after the release of the results. That means that the selection committee will take a week to finalise the selection, and the education department will take another week to publish the list.

Here, we take a look at why the Education Department needs to set the publication dates for the Release of Exam Results and Grade 11 Selection ListsRead about it here.

Grade 12 National Exam Results

The Education Department, through the MS, D, will release the 2025 Grade 12 exam results to the Department of Higher Education, Research, Science, and Technology (DHERST) around the second week of December.

The Education Department (MSD) conducts the exams, coordinates marking, compiles students' exam marks and sends them to DHERST.

DHERST then uses the marks to select students for higher institutions.

2026 Grade 12 Selections Date

The Grade 12 students can check their examination results on/around December via the Education Department's (NDoE/MSD) website called My PNG Exam Results. Last year, the results came out on the 8th of December - this will give you an idea about when the exam results will be released this year.

Note that DHERST does not process the marks. DHERST usually takes less than a week to process the selection listings for tertiary institutions in the country.

It works in collaboration with universities, colleges, and other tertiary institutions to do the selection. But, first, the institutions MUST tell DHERST their quota - how many students they will accept for the academic year 2026.

So, unless the institutions provide the quotas on time, DHERST will not release the listing.

It is important to note that the higher institutions NOT sending the quotas often resulted in delays.

2026 Grade 9 Selection List

The Grade 8 exam marking, results, and Grade 9 selection are the responsibility of the respective provinces. The Department of Education passed this responsibility to the provinces.

The education department will send the Grade 8 certificates to the schools/provinces before the end of December every year. However, many provinces have failed to issue Grade 8 certificates to students.

Read about this failure and how the Education authorities Do the Grade 9 Selections.

What do the 2026 Selections Mean?

For Grade 10 students, the 2026 selections signify a transition to Grade 11 or vocational centres, where they can further their academic pursuits or acquire practical skills.

For Grade 12 students, it means striving for admission into tertiary institutions, paving the way for their higher education journey.

Similarly, Grade 8 students eagerly anticipate moving up to Grade 9, marking a significant step in their educational progression.

When is the Grade 11 Selection list coming out?

Based on the dates above, we can infer that the Grade 11 selection lists will be released before mid-December 2025.

Eastern Highlands Police Reservist Program Recruitment

Police Commissioner and Controller of the PNG COVID-19 National Pandemic Response, David Manning, has endorsed the Eastern Highlands Province Police Reservist program to beef up police manpower to address COVID-19 and policing challenges in the province.

Commissioner Manning when signing the memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Eastern Highland Governor Peter Numu on Thursday this week highlighted that Police Reservice have been a great asset to the Constabulary in the early days however, it was discontinued due to the lack of proper command and control.

“With the current COVID-19 crisis coupled with the ongoing law and order situation across the country, we have agreed to revive the Police Reservists program in partnership with provincial governments and other statutory bodies under the revised policies and command structure.

“I want to commend Governor Numu and his administration for the initiative and the commitment to partner with the Constabulary in reviving the police reservist program in their province. This is a win-win approach for the Constabulary and the Province in addressing the current COVID-19 crisis and law and order issues going forward,” Manning said.

Mr Manning further said that the Eastern Highland Province is among the few provinces that have come on board and are currently running similar programs in their respective provinces.

Mr Manning said the Constabulary has set the target to recruit 1,100 Police reservist personnel before the 2022 national general election.

Eastern Highland Governor Peter Numu thanked the Commissioner for the endorsement and his vision to revive the reservist program to address the lack of police manpower in the provinces.

Governor Numu also announced that the Eastern Highlands Police Reservist program will commence with the first 220 successful applicants to undertake reservist training.

“Under my administration, we are ready to run this program and the first batch of 220 successful applicants will go into training immediately. We need more police manpower to assist us with COVID-19 operations and general policing thus we have taken such drastic action. This is the biggest reservist recruitment compared to other provinces and my administration will continue to sustain this program,” Governor Numu concluded.

MEDIA STATEMENT

What is Tertiary Entrance Rank, TER?

The Tertiary Entrance Rank appears on the Grade 12 students' provisional statement of results they access from My PNG Exam Results website. There are in fact three numbers that appear together: the RANK, the TERTIARY ENTRANCE RANK and the GRADE 12 STUDENT POPULATION.

When will DHERST formally publish the Grade 12 selection List for HEIs?

What is Tertiary Entrance Rank?

The RANK is the Grade 12 student's 'position' relative to the number of Grade 12 students who sat the exams and are graded in that particular year.

The GRADE 12 STUDENT POPULATION as the name implies, is the total population of Grade 12 students who sat the Grade 12 examination in that particular year.

So what is the TERTIARY ENTRANCE RANK?

Tertiary Entrance Rank, TER

The TERTIARY ENTRANCE RANK is basically the total ranking out of 100%.

Though there is no clarity on the criteria used in the PNG Grade 12 TER, it is widely understood that the final TER is inclusive of both the Year 11 and Year 12 internal (SCHOOL-BASED) and external (EXAM) marks.

So if a Grade 12 student's tertiary entrance rank is 80%, it means the student performed above 79% of the whole student population who sat the exams; and 20% of the students performed above that particular student.

TER is Rank, not Mark

Note that the tertiary entrance rank is not a mark. As the name implies, it is a rank.

The TERTIARY ENTRANCE RANK simply shows where you are relative to the general student population who sat for the exam country-wide for a particular year.

All in all, the higher the TER, the better the performance. The lower the TER, the poorer the performance.

What to Do with Download Grade 10 Exam Results 2025 pdf?

Upon obtaining your Grade 10 or 12 exam results for the PNG 2025, it is important to prioritise securing and maintaining your exam results. Here's a step-by-step guide to ensure the proper handling of your exam results:

1. Download and Secure Your Results: Proactively download the PDF document containing your exam results. Save it securely on your personal device, either a smartphone or a computer. Avoid relying on screenshots, as they lack the permanence and authenticity required for official purposes.

2. Enhance Documentation and Credibility: Present the downloaded PDF to your parents, teachers, and school principal. Request the principal's signature and stamp to validate the authenticity of your results. These documents will be crucial for Grade 11 selections and tertiary school admissions. Obtaining the principal's endorsement strengthens your position in case of any discrepancies or inquiries.

3. Prioritise Account Security: Immediately change your My PNG Exam Results account password to a strong and unique combination that only you know. Refrain from sharing your password details or your exam results with anyone, maintaining the confidentiality of your personal information.

4. Access Support Services: If you encounter any difficulties or need assistance accessing your exam results, reach out to your family, headteachers or the National Department of Education (NDoE) for support.

What to do if you STILL need access to the MyPNGExamResults.com website?

If you cannot log in, try to interchange your surname and given name, and check your SLF number. If you have three names and have problems, try several combinations before seeking help.

If you are really stuck, one way is to go back to your school and confirm your password by checking your SLF number with your teachers or the deputy principal and the principal of your school.

Ask them to try the combination of your password and your username. After all the attempts, if you still cannot access your results, the teachers at your school, the deputy principal or the principal will have to call MSD (Measurement Services Division) and fix your problem.

LSAT Results and Law School Admission 2024

The Law School Admission Council (LSAC) has reported that the application process for entry into the 2024 and 2025 academic year remains highly competitive. Law schools in both the United States and Canada are facing challenges in admitting aspiring lawyers due to the increased demand and rigorous selection criteria

The August 2024 LSAT is an important step for law school admission. Here are the key details:

  • Test Dates: The primary test dates are August 7-10, 2024. You can choose to take the LSAT either remotely or at a test center.
  • Scores Released: LSAT scores will be released on August 28, 2024. Make sure you have an approved LSAT Writing sample on file to receive your score.
  • Registration Deadlines: Register by June 27, 2024 to avoid late fees. Accommodation requests are also due by this date.
  • LSAT Score Preview: For $45, you can preview your score before it's sent to schools.
  • Median LSAT Score: The median LSAT score for 2024 law school admission is 159.

Remember to check official LSAC resources for any updates or additional information!

Law School Admission Test 2024

Year-over-year law school applications

There was a 13% increase in the number of applicants last year.

According to LSAT, this was the

''largest year-over-year increase in law school applications since 2002. Not only was the increase in applications immense, but the number of applicants with LSAT scores in the 175 to 180 band grew as well, from 732 last year to 1,487 this time around''.

LSAT Results and Law School Admission Increase

For the first time since 2002, Law schools in the US will experience a high enrollment of students, students with high LSAT test scores.

“This was the cycle that surprised everyone,” said Mike Spivey of Spivey Consulting, whose firm assists clients in the law school admissions process. “In some cycles, applicants are surprised. In some cycles, law schools are surprised. But no one was able to anticipate the incredible spike of high LSAT scores.”

More Intelligent students doing LSAT 2024

The increase in the number of high LSAT scores can be attributed to a high number of intelligent students wanting to do law.

The Law School Admission Council has said that their data show aspiring law students had more time to study for the admissions test during the pandemic. And their efforts are yielding higher scores.

Read more about LSAT, the body that conducts the August 2024 remote admission tests

LSAT online tutors on remote LSATs

LSAT online tutors also noted that due to the change in 2024 LSAT Writing tests, the LSAT is done remotely, both Part A Multiple Choice and Part B Essays.

The test takers do the test in their own homes and are less stressful and more manageable than a longer exam taken at a testing centre.

The change could have had a better effect on the students' LSAT results this year, 2024. The remote LSAT test is going to remain until June 2024.

Spivey predicts that the law schools in the US are going to go through a tough time deciding who to admit into the academic years 2024 and 2025.

“You’re going to see a competitive cycle early on,” he said. “And I think schools are going to go incredibly slowly in admit decision-making. They got burned this year.”

The Program: Australia Awards Papua New Guinea

The Australia Awards Papua New Guinea (AAPNG) Facility is designed to promote knowledge, leadership and enduring ties between Australia and Papua New Guinea (PNG). It aims to build knowledge and skills to address PNG’s economic and development challenges through international scholarships to Australia and scholarships in PNG.

It offers the next generation of leaders in Papua New Guinea opportunities to acquire professional and technical knowledge and skills relevant to the priorities of the Government of PNG. The program ensures opportunities are provided for women, people with disabilities and people from rural and remote locations. The program supports alumni to use their skills, knowledge and networks to drive change and innovation.

AAPNG includes three study options:

The role involves working largely independently.
